Magic Johnson Reveals what LeBron James Needs to do to Reach Michael Jordan

LeBron James is arguably one of the greatest players to have played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). So is Michael Jordan. It is often debated as to who is the best basketball player.

Another former great Magic Johnson believes that currently, Jordan is the greatest of all time, but he also feels that LeBron could get there soon.

“For me on my books right now, I would say Michael [Jordan] was the freakiest player in the game,” Johnson said at the 29th Annual Achillies Gala in New York City. “He was the greatest to play on the floor because I couldn’t jump as high… But Michael going 6-0 in the NBA finals, oh man. That’s awesome.”

“I went to the finals nine times in 12 years, but we only won five. But I’ll take those five, trust me. As long as it was two more than Larry (Bird), that’s all I care about.”

Johnson felt that LeBron would get to Jordan’s level if he wins two more championships.

“For him (LeBron) to really catch Michael, it’s the next two or three championships. If he could get a couple more Championships, then he will probably the greatest that’s ever played,” he said.

With the performances of the Los Angeles Lakers in the season so far, they have certainly shown that they are a strong contender for the 2019/20 NBA Championship. At 35, he is still racking up great performances for the team and is also leading the team in assists. With the kind of fitness levels that LeBron James showing, it won’t be a surprise to see him at least for a few more seasons. Hence, he has a good chance to make it to the top in Magic Johnson’s pecking order.

Johnson also remembered Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell with some “love.”

“You have to give some love to Bill Russell with 11 championships. Always remember that,” Johnson said.
