Paolo Maldini heaps praise on Lionel Messi

Italian legend Paolo Maldini showered praise on Lionel Messi and his Barcelona teammates. Maldini stated that the Barcelona No. 10 is eclipsing the Argentinean legend Diego Maradona with the success he has had over the past few years.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the iconic Milan defender said, “Leo Messi is the best player in the world. From what I’m seeing, he’s approaching the point where he is perhaps overtaking Maradona in terms of everything he’s achieved in recent years.”
Maldini is widely considered as one of the best defenders to have played the game. The former Italy captain also expects Barcelona and Messi to cause more havoc in the footballing world in the near future.
“Messi, Neymar and Suarez are phenomenal and the statistics speak for themselves,”.
“Barcelona have already made history and the team is destined to break all the records,” Maldini, who played 126 matches for Italy, added.
