Reports suggest that Manchester United are set to ‘hijack’ Chelsea’s bid for Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic.
The Stoke City shot-stopper was clearly expected to be Chelsea second-choice after Cech turned his way to arch-rivals Arsenal.
Chelsea have been in negotiations with Stoke City as they plan to bring the 28 year old Asmir Begovic to Stamford Bridge. But Chelsea fear that they may lose out the player to Manchester United, who are keen to bring in the player as a replacement for the outgoing David De Gea. With reports stating that Louis Van Gaal wants bring in someone from Premier League itself, it seems to be an obvious move as well.
The initial bid of 6m was rejected by Stoke City who apparently are not willing to sell for anything less than 10m.
Asmir Begovic has been playing in the Premier league for the last 6 seasons making 179 appearances for Stoke City and the goalie has had a tremendous record in the Premier League.
He has grown into one of top keepers across Europe and many clubs including Liverpool and PSG have been linked with the player in the past few seasons.
Asmir Begovic has played all the games for Stoke City except 3 of the 9 matches missed due to injury.
