Coach Defends Novak Djokovic

Goran Ivanisevic who is Novak Djokovic’s coach responded to the people who criticized the Serb. In a recent interview with Sportske which was translated, he said,

It’s easy to be a general after the battle and now everyone is very smart, and a lot of them attack Novak because it’s very popular. I have the impression that many could hardly wait for his wrong move. He tried to do something big, something that had a humanitarian character after we were all imprisoned together for three months.”

During the event, there was a lot of partying which was criticized by many people including Nick Kyrgios. Goran accepted that it was not required as he said,

I can accept the criticism that we didn’t need a celebration and party at a nightclub in Belgrade, but each of the players and participants in the party could say that they didn’t want to be there. No one was forced to have fun, dance, take off their T-shirts, enjoy music.”

Clearly, there is a debate on whether Novak was right or wrong. But that is not a debate that people will be focused on. They will be hoping that the players infected will recover very soon so that they can play on the ATP Tour when it returns in August.
