Boxing Legend Roy Jones jr. took offense with Wilder’s reaction to defeat. The boxing legend had several issues with the various comments made by Deontay Wilder during the first post-fight interview.

 Deontay Wilder states the reason for his loss

Fury beat Wilder in a one-sided affair with the fight-ending prematurely in round 7. Wilder who was rescued from serious injury spoke to various media outlets giving reasons for his loss. ‘’THE BRONZE BOMBER’’ blamed his outfit and his entrance for his performance. Mark Breland was not spared, threatening to fire him.

Roy Jones jr. gives verdict on the fight

‘’Mark was trying to save his fighter intellectually, spiritually, emotionally-all the way around the board.so all mark could have done is throw the towel in and I would’ve done the same thing’’ said Jones to CBS.
Mark’s opinion is valid. The injuries he would have sustained would be dangerous, given that he is a father of 8 children. Keeping the fighter’s health in mind, what mark Breland did might be unpopular but not wrong.

Deontay Wilder informed his trainers that under no situation the fight should be stopped. But under these circumstances, a “towel” saved Deontay Wilder. The truth is under no circumstances should a fighter’s health be compromised given the several casualties boxing has suffered.

“There was no uphill for him in that fight and anybody that thought he had a chance is crazy because Fury had broken him down from round one and he was going downhill since then. If Wilder thought he had a chance, he was wrong and I’m sorry but that’s just what the facts are.”

Jones credited Fury with a great performance highlighting ‘’The Gypsy King’s’’ technical prowess. However, he still stands with the idea that Fury isn’t a legend, given the caliber of his opponents.

With a potential trilogy and a fight against Anthony Joshua, we can only see how long it takes for Fury to reach ‘’Legendary status’’. One thing is for certain though, Wilder will be back with the rematch insight.

If circumstances do change we could potentially see a much-improved fighter.
