Marvel’s Avengers is the latest title released by developer Crystal Dynamics. The game features all the original Avengers, including new additions. It also recently concluded its Beta phase. So, here’s everything to know ahead of the full game launch on September 4.
Marvel’s Avengers Storyline
The game’s storyline is based in a world still recovering from the events of A-Day. That was the day a deadly toxin was released in the city of San Francisco. This gave superhuman powers to the people exposed to it. Consequently, the Avengers were blamed for the mishap.

Following the tragedy, AIM takes matters into its own hands led by M.O.D.O.K. Their mission: To rid the world of superheroes. One young girl still believes that the Avengers were framed by AIM to take all the blame who turns out to be none other than Ms. Marvel a.k.a. Kamala Khan. The young hero is now on the hunt, looking for evidence against AIM. She then slowly rallies the Avengers and other S.H.I.E.LD agents to put an end to AIM’s schemes once and for all.

Gameplay and Co-Op
Marvel’s Avengers features Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Kamala Khan, and Hulk. PlayStation users will get to play as Spiderman, exclusively next year. Additionally, Hawkeye will also be a part of the Avengers in the future.
The game has different game modes. There are hero specific campaign missions and War Zones. The Hero missions follow the main storyline of individual Avengers. They go on different missions over the world as part of their own story. The War Zones are other missions with more specific objectives.
War Zone missions will feature a four-player co-op mode, or it can be completed solo with three AI heroes. These missions help increase the power level for the Avengers and upgrade them with better gear. Iconic Missions, Faction Missions, Drop Zones, Vaults, Hives & Villain Sector are the different types of War Zone missions in the game. Each of these will feature different objectives, difficulty levels, and rewards.

Character Customization
Character customization is a huge part of the game. Each hero can be customized or upgraded by completing War Zone missions or the Hero Missions. As the game progresses, their appearance can also be altered as you unlock more rewards. Each Avenger boasts a different play style that players can take advantage of to see what fits them best.

The beta launch was highly successful for the game. According to the Square Enix blog, over six million players participated and played for over 27 million hours. The post also mentions additional information regarding the Day 1 patch. Take a look at it here.
