Matteo Berrettini To Miss Gstaad Open 2019

Italian tennis player, Matteo Berrettini dwelled decently during the grass-court season and he also captured a title on grass, but now he decided to skip the Swiss tournament, Gstaad Open 2019 after he injured his right ankle on the practice court.

This year, Matteo Berrettini was the defending champion in Gstaad and he won his first ATP title by defeating Roberto Bautista-Agut in the Gstaad finals last year. Also, he won his first ATP doubles title in Gstaad last year, and he was partnering his compatriot Daniele Bracciali.

During Swiss Open 2018, Berrettini staved off nine break points and his service was unbroken throughout the tournament. He slammed 54 aces, which roughly gave an average of 11 aces per match, also he committed five double faults during Swiss Open 2018.

Similar statistics were depicted in Stuttgart this year, where he won his third career title. He faced just two break points and kept his service games intact throughout the tournament.

The 20-year-old, Berrettini has been triumphing on the ATP circuit this season. He has won 29 matches also captured two ATP titles in Budapest and Stuttgart, where he defeated Filip Krajinovic and Felix Auger-Aliassime respectively in finals.

With his title in Stuttgart last month, Matteo Berrettini completed the series of winning ATP 250 titles on all the three surfaces of the sport.

At Wimbledon Championships 2019,  Matteo Berrettini made his best-ever Grand Slam run. Wimbledon’s 17th seed, Berrettini reached the fourth round and before that Marcos Baghdatis concluded his career against him.

Although, his pre-quarterfinal match against Roger Federer was a washout, however, that match gave him the experience to play a ‘Big Three’ tennis player on a big stage.

Meanwhile, on the other courts of ATP, Dusan Lajovic and Attila Balazs set up their final match at Croatia Open in Umag. And at Hall of Fame Open, Alexander Bublik is through to the finals and the second finalist will be either John Isner or Ugo Humbert.
