Max Verstappen is a lot many things to a lot many people. To some, he’s among the finest talents to have ever assumed the role of an F1 driver. To some, he’s a pure genius, a growing ‘Regenmeister’ if you like.

When he takes to the track, one can only expect fireworks and some wham-bam wheel-to-wheel racing action. True, right?

To a different lot who aren’t as taken in by the Dutchman as his fans, Max Verstappen represents perhaps not the best of qualities one would expect of an F1 talent. To this strata, therefore, he’s a bit arrogant albeit talented.

And in fact, many do feel that Max Verstappen is a narcissist; and therefore, too full of himself. To his credit, Max Verstappen was defended vehemently by his team boss Christian Horner, who actually said that the reason Ricciardo became Renault-bound, it was because he wanted to ‘run away from the fight’ with the Dutchman.

Whether or not that is true, what’s certainly true is that Max Verstappen has responded to the claims of him being a ‘narcissist.’

In fact, only recently was Max Verstappen called a ‘narcissist.’ While this didn’t come from any of his on-track contemporaries, it did come from an old adversary, if you like. Wondering who that was?

Well, Nico Rosberg, who else? In the latest edition of his podcast, Rosberg had shared that he thinks Max is a ‘narcissist.’ In fact, he did mention that, “If you take Verstappen, he is a narcissist like you write it in the dictionary.”

Now, Max, often called ‘Mad Max’ for his ability to bounce back under pressure and extract the best from his craft, has responded well.

“I think it’s very important to believe in yourself because it’s a pretty tough world and there are a lot of people trying to work against you,” Verstappen said here in Bahrain.

“Thanks to my father, I learned at a young age how things are in this world, so I have been prepared for this from an early age.”

The above told, Max’s response- as quoted on Planet F1- has been graceful, isn’t it? What are your thoughts?
