Legendary men’s doubles twin brothers Mike and Bob Bryan, the Bryan Brothers could have played tennis for the last time. But they could also return in 2021.

Speaking on the sidelines of the World Tennis Tour event they played in, Bob said that he does not know how much tennis the Bryan brothers have left in themselves.

“We don’t know how much tennis we have left in us. We said we were going to decide what we’re going to do for the rest of the summer,” said Bob. “We’re having a blast playing tennis. Maybe for the last time. No place better than the Greenbrier (valley) for World Team Tennis,” he added.

Winning for the country is most special, say Bryan Brothers

When asked about a specific moment that stands out for them in a career that has seen them accomplish so much, Mike said that playing for the country always remains special.

Playing for your country is always extra special. Winning the Davis Cup for Patrick McEnroe and Roddick and Blake, and winning against the Russians was a pretty sweet feeling. Being able to clinch the match for our country,” said Mike. “The Olympic gold as well. So if we had to give up all our trophies for those two wins, we probably would. Playing for the country is so great,” he added.

Mike went on to say that they will now consider their future plans and that they felt quite young on the court during the WTT.

“The stickiest moment is always the last one and we won today. That feels good. We loved this season, it was a blast for us to get back out here,” Mike continued. “We’re gonna discuss if we want to keep going. I thought we felt pretty young… We got some good stuff left, who knows if we’re gonna keep doing it. But um, it’s been a fun ride,” he further expressed.

“We’re gonna sit down and decide on our future”

Bob, the younger of the Bryan Brothers by a couple of minutes, said that if they decide to make a comeback to the Tour in 2021, the fans can expect to see them at the US Open next month.

I don’t think even we know yet [if this was the final event]. Tennis has been our whole life… I have a great home life… I love spending time with my family. I know Mike has also started to feel that,” he said. “We gotta weigh the travel and how much time we have to spend away from them,” he added.

“Tennis has been our life… We love this life. We had a great run if this is over. We’re gonna sit down and if we decide to come back and play in 2021, then you’ll probably see us play the Open just to keep it going. If we decide to shut it down in 2021, this might be it. So who knows,” he said further, adding that he will get on a Zoom call with his brother later to figure it out.
