McLaren Racing Comes Back to Safety with More than 20% Increase in Revenue in 2019

The McLaren team has been growing in leaps and bounds in the 2019 Formula One season. However, it is worth noting that, not only have they been performing better on-track, that is being translated to better performance off it.

The McLaren Group revenues reached £698m, which was up 36% from £511m in 2018. This is largely due to Automotive volume growth, the Ultimate Series sales and an improvement in racing results. McLaren are currently 4th in the Formula 1 World Constructors’ Championship with 82 points, compared to 6th with 52 points in 2018.

They also announced a strategic partnership with Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and Chevrolet racing as Arrow McLaren Racing SP for a return to IndyCar in the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series.

The team has also reported a number of improvements in reliability and competitiveness. However, they know that there is still scope for further developments on the horizon. As an added bonus, It was confirmed that Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris will continue as McLaren F1 drivers for the 2020 FIA Formula 1 season.

In addition to that, the F1 financial (cost cap of $175m) and technical regulations for 2021 onwards is due to be signed in October 2019.

A multitude of key management positions have now filled with a focus on development. The team also boasts of an improvement of methodologies, production and digital transformation to further support the forward steps made in 2019.

Add to this, the visible on track improvement, coupled with reducing losses from Formula One. The team’s revenue targets have been achieved with more sponsor partnerships than any other F1 team this year, now focussed on 2020.

Their total Racing Division revenue has increased to 76m from 69m, which is a 10% increase. Having said all this, after hitting rock bottom with their disastrous Honda days, the only place they can go is up. At this rate, it is only a matter of time before McLaren returns to the podium.
