Miami Open 2019: Angelique Kerber Blasts Bianca Andreescu After Match

It was once again the Indian Wells 2019 final showdown in the midst of Miami Heat, where the German tennis player, Angelique Kerber had an opportunity to avenge for her six-days-old championship loss in the desert from Canada’s new sensation, Bianca Andreescu in the Miami Open 2019. Despite Kerber ascending in the first half of the third round encounter, the Canadian warrior wrestled to turn the tables during the late-night show in Miami and hindered Kerber’s return to the pinnacle of WTA ladder.

The World Number four tennis player, Kerber picked up her first set 6-4, and later stretched out a 4-1 lead in the second. However, Andreescu grappled to reserve her pre-quarters berth at the Miami Open 2019 by dislodging the three-time Grand Slam champion 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in their second consecutive meeting.

The time was around 1:30 a.m. ET when Andreescu extended her match winning streak to number ten, her victory was followed by a disgruntled handshake over the net as Kerber uttered, “You’re the biggest drama queen ever.”

Evidently, it was a displeasing defeat for the German and she was exasperated with Andreescu calling the trainer thrice to treat her right shoulder soreness during their battle. Both of them had physical issues prevailing during their Saturday’s Miami Open 2019 face-off, Kerber had a taped left thigh and Andreescu with right shoulder soreness. “She said something, but I’m not sure what,” Andreescu said. “I just didn’t say anything, whatever, I’m not trying to focus on that. I’ll just let my tennis talk.”

“It wasn’t easy today,” Andreescu conveyed during her on-court interview. “Kerber played a really great match. But I think I took the momentum from the final into this match.” The World Number 24, Andreescu now records 31-3 as her win-loss tally in the 2019 tennis season. Next, the Canadian teenager will see the  Estonian, Anett Kontaveit in the fourth round of the Miami Open 2019.

On the other WTA courts, the World Number one, Naomi Osaka got knocked down by the Taiwanese tennis player, Hsieh Su-Wei. Meanwhile, the other WTA women at the Miami Open 2019 which incorporate Simona Halep, Sloane Stephens, Kiki Bertens, Petra Kvitova and Karolina Pliskova are in the race to the World Number one ranking.
