Inter played AC Milan, in what was more of a ‘pride at stake’ contest to say the least at the San Siro on Monday night. With both the former Italian league and champions league winners languishing mid table, the chances of European football next season look quite grim.

Nevertheless the contest started in an electrifying fashion and it looked as if Inter would draw first blood with a Hernanes strike which was setup by Icardi but a phenomenal save from the aging former Real Madrid man Diego Lopez ended up saving the day for Filippo Inzaghi’s men.

Inter did dominate proceedings throughout having most of the possession as well as shots but were unable to convert any, and midway through the second half the game seemed to be heading towards a dull draw and that was the result.

The game saw some physical attributes as well and the players did give it their all and a total of six bookings stand testimony to that fact. Milan are still 9 on the table just a point ahead of the 10 placed Internazionale.

Result: Inter 0 – AC Milan – 0.
