Tennis giant Rafael Nadal has had a successful year so far with him recently winning his 20th Grand Slam title. The achievements and surprises keep pouring in from time-to-time as far as the Spaniard’s glittering career is concerned.
A little more than a month after winning his 13th French Open title, the superstar has managed to remain in the Top 10 for a record-breaking 790 consecutive weeks, overtaking American legend Jimmy Connors (789 weeks).

Rafael Nadal overtakes Jimmy Connors

Over the course of his journey, he finally went past Connors this week (789 weeks). Nadal has overcome the likes of the Swiss great Roger Federer (734 weeks), the Czech-American Ivan Lendl (619 weeks), and one of the greatest serve and volley players, Pete Sampras (565 weeks). The Serbian-machine Novak Djokovic is on 555 weeks and looks certain to extend that streak for a considerable amount of time.

On April 25, 2005, the Spanish sensation broke into the Top 10 for the very first time. Ever since then, there has been no looking back for Rafa. In a career hit with injuries, Nadal somehow managed to keep himself up there, producing an exceptional level of consistency.

The Spaniard goes past Connors beginning today. Rafa went past Federer after winning the ATP Masters Title in Rome last year. Djokovic spent 555 weeks before being forced out due to an elbow injury he suffered late in 2017.
