There are some moments in life when one doesn’t know whether to smile or to frown. Alex Rodriguez is experiencing something similar right now. And the reason for this mixed feeling? His basketball teams. While the Minnesota Timberwolves’ loss has given him a reason to go ballistic, the great start of the Minnesota Lynx may have relieved some of that pain.

Rodriguez has been on a roll ever since the T-Wolves made their way to the Conference Semis. However, despite his best wishes and great advice, the Timberwolves’ 2-0 lead has been eroded. In fact, the Denver Nuggets have overtaken them 3-2 to now be in pole position to advance to the finals. That could be a major blow for the owner, who is hoping that his team’s success will rub off the much-needed loyalty from fans towards him.

However, while that’s a worrying sign, A-Rod had something else to look forward to. The New York Yankees legend attended the Minnesota Lynx’s WNBA season opener, as visible through his Instagram account. Rodriguez was full of hopes and may have wished that the Lynx gave him the taste of victory—something that the T-Wolves have failed to do in the past two games. To his delight, the Lynx did just that.

The Lynx defeated the Seattle Storm 83-70 in a comprehensive performance. While the Storm did hotly start the game (they led the first quarter), the Lynx shut them down later. The turning point came in the 4th quarter when the Lynx scored 20 points to the Storm’s 10. With such a huge win, this WNBA team is off to an electrifying start. However, Rodriguez’s worries about the Timberwolves haven’t ended yet. The team is set to take part in a do-or-die game against the Nuggets, a clash that holds importance both on and off the field.

How Alex Rodriguez’s ownership could get affected by Timberwolves’ game

The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently going through a historic run. After years of meandering, they’re now firm in their position as one of the best teams in the Western Conference. However, this success could prove to be short-lived if things go south from here on. The taxation issues are already going to hit the team next season. Adding to the ownership uncertainty, there’s a lot to worry about here for Alex Rodriguez too.

The superstar has continuously tried to acclimatize himself to the Minnesota fanbase. From regularly attending games to serving as a bartender, he has done it all. However, Rodriguez’s biggest trump card has always been that the T-Wolves became successful after he entered the scene. A long run in the playoffs could prove to the fanbase that he’s good for the team in the long term.

And in his battle with Glen Taylor, fan sentiment is what Rodriguez needs. So can the T-Wolves erase A-Rod’s worries by winning the next game? Moreover, will the Lynx build up on this fine form? Only time will tell.
