The news of the tragic death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others came as a massive shock. The NBA legend was a girl dad, just like his friend and fellow athlete Derek Jeter.

Bryant’s one of four daughters was with him in the helicopter that crashed in Calabasas, California. The accident broke his family and all his loved ones as well. Remembering the great legend, the shortstop penned down an emotional essay in 2020 as a tribute from one girl’s dad to another. Wherein he shared about his relationship with the NBA star, among other things.

What did Derek Jeter and Kobe Bryant use to talk?

Most of the topics of the legends’ conversations were about their families. As both shared another common thing of being a parent only to girls, they usually talked about them.

“All I ever needed to know about Kobe Bryant was this: that throughout our friendship, the most meaningful conversations we had — they were always about family,” the former baseball player said

He also added, “When I think of Kobe, I really just end up thinking about those special few personal conversations that we were lucky enough to share together, each time one of us had a new baby daughter.” During the moments that Jeter got to spend with the NBA legend, all Bryant talked about was his love for his wife Vanessa and being a dad to his girls.

It was a hard time, and it still is hard to believe that the legend is no more. He, Gianna, and the seven other people who lost their lives that day are watching over their families from heaven.

Jeter said Bryant also loved being a dad very much

The NBA legend knew that his life was only as important as the love he had for the people in it. He also knew that he was born to be a professional basketball player. But, he also knew that family always comes first over anything. “Kobe just loved being a dad. And when it comes to his legacy, I really hope we’re able to take the time to remember that as an essential part of it,” Jeter said.
