The hunt for a reliable left fielder for the New York Yankees has been a tale as old as time. Despite having enough players on the roster, including Aaron Hicks, the Pinstripe have struggled to find a consistent performer in left field. 

In a humorous twist, a baseball fan recently posted a job opening for the left-field position on Indeed. Poking fun at the team’s ongoing struggles to fill the position. It quickly went viral, with fans and critics alike chiming in with their opinions. 

The New York Yankees left field job posting has sent the Yankee nation into a frenzy 

In a recent Instagram post, a screenshot of a job listing for the left field position with the Yankees was shared, with the caption, “Lmao someone put the Yankees LF job on Indeed.” 

Fans and followers quickly jumped in on the joke, with one commenting “Brett Gardner about to apply” in reference to the former Yankees outfielder who is currently a free agent. He had been hoping for a more lucrative deal, but it has not come to pass. He has been in hibernation since then and even after receiving a few other good deals from other teams, the athlete had been hoping to return to the Yankees or not return to the Major League at all, according to nj.com.

Another reply made light of the team’s struggles with Aaron Hicks in the left field position, writing “I mean I show more heart than goofy Hicks cheering from my couch. Sign me up.” 

The flurry of replies went like this;

“I’ve got a clutch switch-hitting LF for ya Cash, but he’s only 12 yrs old atm..”

“Put me in coach!”

“It needed to be done.”

“If Hicks ever plays for us again I’m a Met fan”, were some other replies.

The listing itself, with a salary of just $15 an hour, added to the comedic tone of the post. Someone noticed this and brought it to light, “$15 an hour☠️”

For Aaron Hicks, the past few years have been a rollercoaster of ups and downs. He burst onto the scene with a bang, dazzling fans and teammates alike with his incredible talent. But as time went on, his performances began to wane. Last season was a particularly trying time for Hicks, as his statistics and unenthusiastic attitude on the field fell far short of the high standards required by major league players.  

The pressure is now on Hicks to rise above the criticism and prove himself once again. This season presents a new opportunity for Hicks to remind everyone why he was once considered a rising star.
