Growing up, New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter had a close relationship with both his parents. Jeter’s father, Dr. Charles Jeter, used to work as a substance abuse counselor. Notably, he inspired and pushed Jeter to pursue his career in baseball. It was Jeter’s father who backed the former Yankee from the very start and backed him until he finally signed his first big league contract.

During one such game before school, Jeter’s father taught him how to value everyday items. It happened early in life for the former Yankee, but eventually, it helped him value things. It also helped him push his net worth to a massive $220 million.

At what age Derek Jeter started to learn how to value things?

Jeter and his father used to watch a TV show called, ‘Price is right.’ In the show, people used to guess the price of certain things. But since Jeter was only 6 years old at the time, he couldn’t guess the right price. Therefore, his father won against him all the time at all the games.

I didn’t know how much a refrigerator or a new car cost—I was six years old. We’d sit there, and he’d beat me, and then I’d walk to school.”
