While attending Linden High School, Judge played football and basketball alongside baseball. He equally reigned supreme in all the three. He played as a wide receiver for the football team and the center for the basketball team. Judge set school records in football with 17 touchdowns and in basketball with 18.2 per game.

Various college football teams, including Notre Dame, Stanford, and UCLA, tried to recruit Judge as a tight end. But he stuck to his favorite sport, ie, baseball. After passing high school, he enrolled in Fresno State University. There he began playing baseball for the Fresno State Bulldogs.
