Usually, when a hitter loses his form, his number tumbles down to low 200s. Sometimes it goes even lower. That’s because most of them spend most of their time somewhere in the mid to high 200s. However, Juan Soto is a different beast. A bad time for him means a batting average of .301. That’s what happened to him in the last 8 games, however, to call that a downturn? Even the Yankees skipper Aaron Boone found it a little funny.

Though Boone is known for sometimes joking and giving the New York Yankees fans some fun moments, this time it happened due to a question. Yes, while Soto did go 4-for-31 in his last 8 games, the star was still getting on bases. His uncanny ability to garner walks remained intact. As a result when a reporter suggested that Soto had a “brief downturn” Boone immediately smiled and gave away a distinct laugh.

“I mean, briefed out (laughs),” Boone said. However, the skipper did note that Soto “didn’t get hits for a couple days.” But when asked whether the superstar had made some changes to his swing to make up for that lost momentum, the Yankees skipper answered in a negative.

“ No, I mean, I’m sure there’s little, finite adjustments I know he wanted to make and things to work on but nothing noticeable really,” Boone explained. Still, this game proved to be a return to form for Soto who went 4-for-4 for the eighth time in his career. However, while Boone laughed at the downturn comment, it wasn’t a one-off thing. The Yankees skipper looked in a great mood throughout his conference and why wouldn’t he? The Bronx Bombers are currently flying.

From pitching to hitting, the entire team came onto its own against the Chicago White Sox. Even though the Chi Sox remain one of the weakest teams in the entire league, a domination like this could still be massively encouraging.

New York Yankees shine with Juan Soto leading the attack

In total, the Yankees scored 4 home runs today – two by Soto and one each by Giancarlo Stanton and Jose Trevino. Add to that Luis Gil’s 14 strikeouts! The Pinstripes were hitting on all cylinders in one of their most dominating displays this season. What’s even more encouraging is that Juan Soto stood at the center of them all. The star’s unusually smooth adjustment to the Yankees clubhouse makes the Yankees’ interest in keeping him in for the long term stronger.

Recently New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman noted that “it feels like he’s been here a long time.” (per MLB.com) Soto too continues to give credit to his teammates and express his love for the fanbase. “I give a lot of credit to my teammates. They’ve been right there, having fun with me,” Juan Soto said. “I’m more than excited to keep doing that.”

With such happy vibes all around the clubhouse, the Yankees-Soto connection seems like an ideal match. However, even ideal matches can dissolve and that’s why one needs to remain cautious while being optimistic.
