MLB managers are always in a difficult situation. If a team doesn’t live up to expectations, the manager is the first that has to answer for it. The New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone, who was also under pressure after the 2022 ALCS loss against the Houston Astros, faced this situation last year. But a clip shows that none other than the Yankees legend Derek Jeter supported Boone last year as the Yankees manager experiences success today.

Derek Jeter supported Aaron Boone after he learned that the Yankees’ manager was returning

Following the Yankees’ ALCS loss, many fans and experts called for Aaron Boone to be let go. But the management believed in him and kept him for the 2023 season. Shortly after the decision was made, Derek Jeter supported his former teammate. He said that he was happy for Boone and that the Yankees’ skipper regularly put the team in a position to win. A YouTube channel shared a YouTube Short of Jeter commenting on Boone’s return for the 2023 season.

In the video, he says, “Good for Aaron, I like Aaron. I played with Aaron you know? And sometimes when you’re in a situation like that, it’s almost like you’re in a no-win situation. And um, unless you win right? I guess.” Jeter then further said, “But I like Aaron, and he puts them in a position every year to have that chance to win. And, ultimately it comes down to the players, right?”

This was a glowing endorsement from the Yankees’ legendary shortstop and Boone has probably proven him right. During the Bronx Bombers’ most recent game against the Orioles, he showed his tactical prowess. He chose to use Michael King and put Isiah Kiner-Falefa in to pinch run for DJ LeMahieu. These were both big moves that eventually helped the team win the game in the 10th inning. Furthermore, this is a crucial series against a division rival.
