The New York Yankees have dug themselves a deep hole. The story of 2023 has not progressed the way anyone expected, and even the conclusion has a twist. With the captain missing for a major chunk of the season, the club has scrambled to take victories. But even with Aaron Judge back in action, will the Bronx Bombers need the help of New York’s ‘other’ Aaron?

Getting rid of disappointing veterans came too little, too late this year. Ringing in the new Baby Bombers era was to be a good experiment but it unfortunately ended before it began. The season was one of the worst the Yankees had seen in the last few decades. And yet, there is a late surge of success that had many laughing at a recent batting practice incident.

As a manager, the Bronx holds no love for Aaron Boone. They constantly question his decisions, badgering the management for a good replacement. But as a player, Boone won the hearts of the Yankees Nation with a splendid performance in 2003. He hit the winning walk-off home run in the 2003 ALCS. While the World Series ultimately went to the Marlins, New Yorkers will always remember it.

At yesterday’s game vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates, Boone joined his players in the batting cage, reminiscing his days as a player. A fan recorded a video from the side, which shows the Yankees skipper swinging the bat at a single ball and then moving to the side to hand it over to someone else. “Aaron Boone taking BP 🤣” reads the caption.
