Playing for the New York Yankees is not an easy task. The pressure is much higher due to the history of the club and the intensity of the fans. Some MLB stars fail to live up to expectations, eventually fading into the background or leaving the team. Most recently, a $70 million flop outfielder made an immediate facial change after leaving the Yankees.

The Bronx Bombers’ outfield is a weak link for the team, with injuries and out-of-form players. This disgraced outfielder leaving has reduced one of the weaknesses of the team. But he has turned it around on the Yankees with his latest move.

Aaron Hicks left the Yankees to join the Baltimore Orioles. It was a move that ended the struggling outfielders’ time in the Bronx. But Hicks has clapped back at the Yankees by growing his facial hair immediately after leaving. This is a sign of his being tired of the Bombers’ strict grooming policies. Furthermore, he played very well for the Orioles in his debut, making fans believe that his new beard may be the reason why. Baseball insider Mike Daddino shared a Tweet highlighting Hicks’ performance.

In a Tweet, Daddino said, “Death, taxes and Aaron Hicks starting his Orioles tenure 2-2 with two runs and a walk.” He seemingly says that a good Hicks performance was inevitable. But the struggling outfielder did truly show off his skills with the bat.

The reactions to Hicks’ performance have been mixed.

Some fans don’t regret letting the $70 million outfielder go.

Others wondered if it was because of his beard.

It will be interesting to watch the former Yankees outfielder play with the Orioles. Only time will tell if Hicks has managed to return to good form or if it was a fluke. But his play with the Bombers was poor this season and warranted his being designated for assignment.

Hicks was very inconsistent with the Yankees

Aaron Hicks has been unable to string two decent seasons together while playing for the Yankees. Although he has had his moments, the outfielder has had one very good season with the team. Other than that, it has been largely inconsistent batting and poor fielding. A move away from the team seemed inevitable as the Bombers seek to contend for championships.
