As the 2023 season has progressed, the New York Yankees have experienced ups and downs. They started off the season struggling, with a number of players having disappointing form as well. The Aaron Boone-led team is currently in a great run of form and on track to make the postseason. Many believe this is a result of some difficult, yet important, decisions. Notably, just a few days ago, the Yanks terminated Aaron Hicks’ contract because of his poor outings. But fans are not keeping their calm when Hicks has made a big MLB.

Notably, when Hicks was at the Yankees, the Bronx Bombers dealt with a weak outfield at times, with Hicks at the heart of it. Now, fans are divided as the next step in this $70 million player’s career emerges.

Aaron Hicks has struggled in his last few years with the Yankees. He arrived via trade with moderate expectations placed on his shoulders. But after a decent first couple of seasons, he has largely struggled. Last year and this season have been particularly bad. Hicks was designated for assignment and has now agreed on a deal with the Baltimore Orioles. This is huge news, with Yankees fans expressing divided opinions. Fox Sports: MLB reported the news on Twitter.

In a Tweet, they said, “The Baltimore Orioles announced that they have signed Aaron Hicks to a major league contract”. This is a truly massive move for both Hicks and the Yankees. Hicks gets to experience a much-needed change of scenery while the Bombers were finally able to release him.

Hicks joined the Yankees via trade in November 2015. He struggled in 2016, before having a couple of good seasons that earned him a 7-year $70 million deal. Since then he has largely struggled to gain good form, with poor performances in the last 3 or 4 seasons.

This was an inevitable move

Aaron Hicks’ career with the New York Yankees has been on the decline for a while now. Although he was not traded or waived during the off-season, there were moves that pointed toward a future trade or release. Firstly, he has struggled to get into the starting lineup this season. Secondly, his poor form thus far in 2023, with an abysmal .188 batting average. And lastly, during Spring Training, Aaron Boone was getting Aaron Judge to practice at the left field position. This means that Hicks was going to be playing less this season, with Judge taking his position.
