A lifelong dream of the New York Yankees captain might be getting fulfilled soon. Aaron Judge had been badgering Aaron Boone for many years. But due to the uneven lineup and the circumstances surrounding the Pinstripes, the skipper couldn’t fulfill that request. But now with the arrival of Juan Soto, the golden gates are opening for All Rise and that’s a scary thought for the rivals.

Ever since his debut, Judge has been a force to reckon with. The 2022 AL MVP has continuously set the league on fire with his massive hits. But somewhere in his heart, he knew that he could do more. That his hits could make an even bigger impact. Finally, after years of waiting, All Rise has the chance to find out whether his heart is right or not.

Ever since Aaron Judge was a child, he’s wanted to be the third hitter. In a report from the New York Post, he said as much, “I may be old school in that fact, but all the great hitters when I was growing up watching, you want to be a three-hitter…I’d love to hit third, especially with how much Soto gets on [base]. He’s an on-base and base-hit machine.” Judge’s excitement in playing third was palpable.

Luckily for him, Aaron Boone is ready to give the captain that opportunity. “He might get his wish finally,” Boone said. The skipper then revealed that Judge had been requesting to play third for “about six years now”. However, the balance of the team and injuries to key players have prevented Boone from giving Judge that opportunity.

In fact, as Boone pointed out, during Judge’s 62 homers season, there was a time when All Rise was forced to lead off the attack. But no such situation remains currently. The presence of Juan Soto gives Judge a player to follow up on. Soto stands heads and shoulders above most players when it comes to getting on base. That’s exactly what Judge needs.

More important, however, is the fact that the hitting lineup of the Yankees is beginning to look remarkably deep. This is a big shift from the ever-shortening lineup of 2023.

New York Yankees hitting staff could prove to be a giant help

The addition of Alex Verdugo and Trent Grisham plus the return from injury of Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo has transformed the hitting staff. Suddenly, the Bombers have an oversupply of great hitters. Add to this hitters like D.J. LeMahieu, who finished the 2023 season in a great fashion, things look delicious in the Bombers camp.

This immense depth could give Boone a chance to have his most explosive hitter play in third. More importantly, this could be the season where the childhood dream of Aaron Judge finally turns into reality.
