Aaron Judge has just been awarded the American League MVP after having a remarkable from the plate this year. With a batting average of .311 and recording 177 Hits, and 131 RBIs, Judge hammered a whopping 62 Home Runs. And by doing this, the AL MVP broke Roger Maris’s American League record for most Home Runs in a season. Notably, Maris had set the record in 1961 and Judge has finally broken it after over 60 years.
Judge broke the record on October 4th against the Texas Rangers, thereby setting a record that will probably stand for years to come. Upon being named American League MVP, Judge broke another unique record that was set by none other than his Yankee teammate, Giancarlo Stanton, in 2017.

What Giancarlo Stanton record did Aaron Judge break?
When being awarded the American League MVP award, Aaron Judge also set the record for being the tallest MVP in MLB history. Standing at 6’7″, Judge beat previous record holder Giancarlo Stanton who stands at 6’6″. Stanton set this record in the 2017 season when he won the National League MVP with the Miami Marlins. Stanton was virtually present to bestow the honor on Judge and congratulated his teammate.

Judge thanked Stanton for his help over the years and jokingly apologized for beating his record. “Sorry for beating you out in the tallest MVP now,” Judge said. To which Stanton raised his hands in mock frustration and smiled. The two have obviously built a strong bond over the years as teammates.

It will be interesting to see how Judge builds on his record-breaking season. The only question is where he does it. Notably, Aaron Judge rejected contract extension offers from the Yankees earlier this year and became a free agent this year. While most considered it a risk, Judge bet on himself and it paid off.

Judge is without a doubt the top free agent of this offseason with a bidding war likely to start for his signature. As it stands, Judge is most likely going to stay with the Yankees in free agency. But a shock move might be on the cards.
The Yankees will be looking to do all they can to keep their MVP around for the future. It will be nothing but a disaster for the Yanks if Judge ends up signing anywhere else, especially after such a historic season.
