The New York Yankees are arguably one of the biggest franchises in baseball and are one of the few names that are synonymous with America to the rest of the world. In the Yankees roster, Aaron Judge is currently one of the biggest stars. The outfielder stands proud as one of the best talents this generation has seen. He proved his worth last season when he broke the AL record for single-season home runs. On October 4th, 2022, All-Rise hit his 62nd home run of the season, surpassing Roger Maris’ record set in 1961.

It was a historic moment that is not likely to be forgotten soon, if ever. The Yankees clearly see his potential too, as they plan to make him stay in the Pinstripes for the rest of his career. They signed Judge to a massive nine-year, $360 million deal, and he’s now also the 16th franchise captain. Everyone has given their opinions about the record-breaking home run. But what does the player himself feel?

Leading up to October 4th, there was naturally a lot of talk about Judge breaking the record and whether he would manage it or not. It was perhaps a lot of pressure to put on someone just trying his best to play the game to his fullest abilities. Discussing the iconic moment with former Yankee Alex Rodriguez, Judge talked about how he finally felt during that moment.

Judge burst into laughter and said, “It was relief. It was relief. You know what, I think the happiness came from seeing my teammates coming out to the dugout, jumping up and down. Rejoicing, because they were on that journey with me.”
