Aaron Judge is having a dream run in the ongoing MLB season. There are still over 50 games to play, and the Yankees slugger is already the favorite to win the American League MVP. If things do not go south, then Judge has a golden chance to become a Yankee with the most home run in a season.

However, knowing that Judge will be a free agent by the end of the 2022 MLB season, the Yankees are trying their best to keep the talisman in the Bronx. While talking to Colin Cowherd, A-Rod said the Yankees already had Judge in 2018, and they still brought Giancarlo Stanton, who has a higher salary than Judge. Per A-Rod, the Yankees should have brought a complimentary player to Judge.

“Everything is about balance, right? If I have Tom Brady, I can’t bring Dan Marino… You need assets that complement each other. I think it was interesting when you have Judge and they bring in Stanton, is almost like the same player,” A-Rod said in 2019.

“One is making over $300 million. Even though the Yankees inherited only $260 million, you have a guy like Aaron Judge who is just as good, making $500K! Right? It’s all about capital allocation, and how you deploy your capital… And what the Yankees did so well for so long was having the complementary players.”
