The LA Angels are not the team that comes to mind when defining greatness in MLB. While the team features some of the game’s modern greats, the Halos have not been known for their post-season success. While 2023 may not be ending on a positive note for the Anaheim franchise, it appears that they may be taking a completely new direction with their roster altogether.

The Angels are operating on the back of a 8-year post-season drought. Despite sporting superstar Mike Trout and two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani on their roster since 2011 and 2018 respectively, the Angels have not lived up to their expectations. With almost no post-season silverware to boast of, the franchise, despite spending the big bucks has time and again failed to make it count. And in a major switch up, the franchise may finally be looking in a different direction.

Is LA Angels Looking to Trade Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout This Off-Season?

The batting lineup for the Anaheim franchise has always been somewhat of a lock-in. With the tandem of superstar Trout and Ohtani on their roster, most of the other players slotted in and around the stars. However, 2024 may see all of that change and take a diametrically opposite approach.

With superstar and 2021 AL MVP Shohei Ohtani approaching a blockbuster free agency before the 2024 season, the franchise has recently revealed that Mike Trout too could find his way to another team if he requests a trade.

Is Angels Looking to Revamp?

The LA Angels seem to have finally thrown in the towel and look ready to go in for a full rebuild. While building around superstar talents such as Mike and Shohei has been a constant attempt over the past few years, the unsuccessful tries seem to have finally led them to this point where it it not officially time to blow it all up.

With Trout too spending a lot of time on the IL this year, it appears as though his playing record is unlikely to improve as his age advances. Already investing in alternate opportunities such as his golf course, Trout appears to be looking at life beyond the diamond and this could be what is making the Angels consider their life beyond the superstar tandem.
