That’s when Phillies Karen went viral after she was caught confronting the father of a 10-year-old who had snagged a ball near her seat. She appeared to yell at him after the kid walked away with the souvenir. However, there’s another side to moments like these, and plenty of positives worth remembering too. Something that happened yesterday in the Tigers-White Sox game!
“Sometimes the battle for the baseball in the crowd goes south … but that’s not in the American League,” the Tigers’ commentator Jason Benetti said, referring to an incident at the stands yesterday.

In the seventh inning, White Sox’s Brook Baldwin was at the plate and hit a foul ball. Video shows a middle-aged fan went overboard to catch the ball, and he successfully caught the same. So while his act attracted a round of applause from the stands, his next move just made the applause noisier. Why? The middle-aged fan was seen gifting the ball to a child from the back. Yes, without any coercion or confrontation!
This is in stark contrast to how that particular Phillies fan, “Karen,” went all-out against a kid to get hold of the home run ball. But what about Benetti’s claim that the AL witnesses fewer occurrences of fan confrontation?

Reportedly, fans in the NL, particularly in the NL East, are more prone to aggressive behavior. And in the AL, especially the AL Central, tends to have more courteous and relaxed fan bases! That doesn’t mean fights and heated moments don’t happen in the AL. But it does show that league culture and rivalries can play a big role in how fans behave.

The viral fan drama from the Phillies-Marlins game isn’t fading anytime soon. Yes, while the on-field action is long over, Phillies fans online are still buzzing about the woman now dubbed Karen after a heated incident during Friday night’s matchup.
So, here’s what went down: two fans in Phillies jerseys were searching for a ball when one of them managed to scoop it up and hand it to his son. That’s when things got tense. A nearby woman, clearly upset, confronted the man and ended up taking the ball from the young boy in a moment that was caught live on the broadcast.
