There’s the energy of a rookie, and then there is Roman Anthony. He not only made his Fenway debut at 21. But he also hit his first career home run on July 7 against the Rockies. That homer was so great that Alex Bregman couldn’t stop himself from appreciating it.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Anthony launched a 418-foot two-run homer. And with that, Boston took the lead, which made the score 5–1. He also had three hits and two runs scored. This time, he left his mark on the diamond while helping the Red Sox win by 9-3.

Just after Anthony’s soaring high homer, Alex Bregman showered him with praises, explaining how well the youngsters are performing, while talking with NESN. “They are great players. They are going to be stars in this league for a long time. It’s been fun watching them… Just seeing how focused they are on wanting to improve as players, wanting to win baseball games, is special, I think. The last week, 10 days, has been an example of what we feel like this team is capable of… The future is extremely bright here, and looking forward to continue to play with those guys.”

Breggy’s words carried hope. And watching the way he hyped the young core, you can feel that momentum building up.

Well, the firsts are always special. And it was the same for Anthony, too. After the game, he acknowledged, “Yeah, it felt great. To get that first one out of the way [at home] was great.” And that’s not it!

Roman Anthony also had nice things to say about Alex Bregman’s impact. “He’s like a coach in there right now, he’s awesome.” 

The Red Sox missed their veteran due to injury on May 23rd, but it seems like the puzzle pieces are finally coming together. From young blood playing amazingly well to the experienced bats returning soon.

Red Sox rise: Anthony’s breakout and Bregman’s comeback on the horizon

Alex Bregman is getting closer to coming back from his quad injury. Bregman stated on Monday night after Boston’s 9–3 triumph against the Rockies, “Trending toward a return here pretty quickly.” When? “Whether it’s the end of this week or first game after the break. One of those two. But hoping it will be the end of this week.” Good news!

That fits perfectly with the momentum Boston has been developing. Roman Anthony had a breakout game, and with Alex Bregman joining, it feels like the fireworks are still left.

Bregman also mentioned that the All-Star break should be used as a springboard. “What I need to do is hopefully be back playing by the end of this week and use the All-Star break to continue to build up, work on my leg, and make sure that we continue the progression the right way.” Looks like, he has his plans clear!
