Even though the New York Yankees have not won a silverware in the last 14 years, they remain one of the heavyweights in the league; thanks to their glorious history. One of those players is the five-time world series winning champion, Hall of Famer Derek Jeter. The face of modern baseball, Jeter, has left a legacy that many upcoming generations will follow. Many of the active ball players in the league grew up idolizing Jeter and wanted to be like him. 

One of them is 2-time world series winner, Houston Astros’ third baseman and shortstop, Alex Bregman, who enjoyed a Derek Jeter fanboy moment during the Astros’ 2023 opening day. 

A true Derek Jeter fanboy moment!

In the second game of the Astros, a rather adorable moment came up where Bregman talked about growing up as a Derek Jeter fan. However, while reporting that, MLB columnist Andrew Marchand also wrote about Bregman’s first game ever in Yankee Stadium, which would easily melt the hearts of any Pinstripes fan.

Taking to Twitter, Marchand wrote, “Good mic’d up moment on ESPN, Alex Bregman said he grew up a big Derek Jeter fan. At his first game at Yankee Stadium, his mom wore his jersey, but underneath it, a Jeter shirt.”

Reading this was enough to melt the heart of every Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees fan.
