But they still have things in common – enjoying an NBA game, for instance. Both have their own connections to Miami – Rodriguez because he grew up there, and Jeter because he once co-owned the city’s MLB team. The duo showed up at a recent NBA game that had some surprising results, and fans lost it.

However great their talent, both Rodriguez and Jeter were prone to making the occasional mistake. One such moment happened at the infamous 2004 ALCS game when the Yankees fought their archrivals, the Boston Red Sox in an iconic ALCS. The Bronx Bombers lost. Yesterday, when the city of Boston was up against Miami, this time for basketball, Boston won in a strange fashion once again.

The Boston Celtics have been suffering brutal defeats and were expected to have a similar outcome against the Miami Heat yesterday. It was Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday night and among the many popular personalities present were Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter. In a move that upset many, the Celtics won. And fans think it was the presence of Jeter and A-Rod that made it happen.

In the infamous 2004 ALCS game, the Yankees were up 3-0 against the Red Sox. But shockingly, Boston came alive after the 3rd game of the ALCS and defeated the Yankees in four consecutive games, heading to the World Series and eventually winning it. The Jeter-Rodriguez duo was part of that Yankees team and clearly, since they let Boston make a surprising win before, fans think they did it again.
