Jersey numbers are often synonymous with the players. Fans often refer to their idols using their jersey numbers. This is mostly true for generational talents. So, when a generational player retires, teams sometimes show him honor and stop circulating the jersey number further. Baseball also holds great reverence to kit numbers, but Alex Rodriguez missed this chance. Years after his retirement, his jersey number has been recycled via new players. Recently, A-Rod has candidly shared his views on this matter.

Here, he opened up about him not being happy with his jersey number still not retired.

Alex Rodriguez expresses dissatisfaction with the Yankees’ decision

A-Rod is one of the most popular Yankees names, but he still has some complaints about the team. During his Yankees career, the player used to use the No. 13 jersey. Despite his significant contribution to the team and a World Series win, the Yankees never thought of withdrawing the number 13.

The interview had a range of discussions, but it eventually came to his iconic jersey being given to Joey Gallo. The MLB icon clearly stated, “It did not make me happy.” However, making his point forward, he even talked about his current MLB analyst job. The 2009 World Series Champion stated he wants his jersey to enter Monument Park, but it’s tough because, as an analyst, he is “too critical to the Yankees.” That’s why his case is different.

The interesting part came later when the legend clearly talked about his desire to see his number hang among the Yankees? pantheon in Monument Park. The legend expressed, “Yeah, of course it bothers me. It?s less about bother, but of course it would be nice to be recognized in one of the coolest places to be in Yankee history, but that?s not my decision.? However, above all, the Yankees’ former baseman wanted his team to break the trophy drought.

Derek Jeter has achieved a glowing career that is worthy of honor. So, The Bronx Bombers showed him the biggest honor by retiring his No.2 jersey officially. In 2017, they organized this ceremony during their game against the Houston Astros and presented him with a plaque and number for Monument Park.
