The Cody Bellinger-Chicago Cubs saga is a fascinating watch. The player and the team love each other and want to reunite, yet a deal still looks far from certain. Chicago Cubs make their feelings known for Cody Bellinger

President Jed Hoyer kicked off the Cubs Convention on Saturday. The atmosphere has changed considerably since the signing of Shota Imanaga. It has given a confidence boost to the fans and players. With Jed Hoyer promising there will be more signings, fans and players hope to see one name on that list — Cody Bellinger. “The Athletic reported how Bellinger remains an absolute favorite in the Cubs Clubhouse.

The chants of Bellinger’s name filled the Cubs Convention, with Jed Hoyer saying, “I think the world of Cody… he really ingratiated himself well with the city, fan base, and players. The players really think highly of him, and he knows I think really highly of him.“ That said, the Cubs have also prepared themselves for a world without Cody Love.

Michael Busch could act as Bellinger’s replacement. But as “The Athletic” said, “Bellinger is still a great fit for this team.” The reasons are simple — Busch is still a prospect and has minimal experience in the major leagues. Bellinger is a proven hitter, and that’s exactly what the Cubs need. An experienced hand that can guide them through their first playoff in three years.

Apart from this, however, the deep connection that Bellinger could build with Chicago cannot be ignored. His presence will only make the fans more excited about the Cubs. But despite all of this, there is no agreement in place yet. The battle is still on between Hoyer and Boras.

Jed Hoyer vs. Scott Boras — the biggest battle of this offseason

Jed Hoyer has made a name for himself because of his highly disciplined ways. The Cubs have remained financially prudent under him, so he wouldn’t agree to Scott Boras’s early demands. But one can’t discount the super agent; he has shown a knack for making teams overpay for his clients.

In a way, this is a scenario where an unending force is meeting an immovable object. But with the Cubs already making two signings to cover their gaps, they certainly have an edge in these talks.
