This offseason is all about the 29-year-old Japanese star. Wherever one goes, the entire MLB world is speculating about his landing spot. In his latest USA Today article, Bob wrote that generally when star players hit the free agency, they get two or a maximum of three offers. The author brings examples of renowned names like Aaron Judge, Bryce Harper, and Manny Machado to explain his point.

Per him, “Aaron Judge got offers from only the New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres last winter. Bryce Harper’s market consisted of the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers and Giants. Manny Machado had offers from only the Padres and Chicago White Sox.”

To support his opinion, he even listed the words of an experienced agent, who said that “it’s just team bidding against themselves.” Only a few teams are willing to make these commitments. But the Japanese superstar has made things a lot different this season.

As Nightengale predicts, the player may have “10 teams making legitimate offers and perhaps as many as 20 who’ll tell their fanbase they were in on him, too.” The reporter simply termed Ohtani as “the holy grail of free agency in the sports world.” Apart from this, Ohtani is still in his race to get the AL MVP award.
