The Ohtani household is having an epic year. A $700 million signing with one of the best franchises in MLB; 50-50 club entry which many didn’t know was even possible; first time making it to the postseason only to win the World Series rings. As if that wasn’t enough, he got his third MVP award, and AP named him Male Athlete of the Year again. But all these achievements seem bleak in front of what he recently revealed: a junior Ohtani is on the way.

Yes, they are expecting their first child. The news came out of the blue. The same way their marriage announcement came out. Well, Shohei Ohtani sure knows how to give a surprise. While the announcement post is going viral, another image of Mamiko Tanaka’s interview from 2020 is also making its rounds.

Interview of Shohei Ohtani’s wife goes viral

It was a Japanese interview – Mamiko shared some fun tidbits about herself. She shared her hobbies of enjoying delicious food and enjoying beautiful scenery. Her favorite food? That’s pudding and well, hamburgers. Her favorite color is purple. But her dream wasn’t what one might expect from a basketball star. Instead of any sports accolades, Mamiko’s dream was to become a mom. Now years later, that dream is coming true: she is going to be a mom.

Shohei Ohtani joyfully shared the news online but kept intricate details, like the due date. Instead, he posted a cute photo showing a sonogram, a baby onesie, and a baby shoe on Instagram. “Can’t wait for the little rookie to join our family soon!” Ohtani had captioned. The picture, of course, featured Ohtani’s first baby, Decoy. It only seems fitting, because Decoy has been there for all the milestones of his dad.

Shohei Ohtani’s high school wishlist was to have his first child by 28. It might have taken a little longer, but Ohtani, now 30, got his trophy and a baby all in one season. Now Ohtani, Mamiko, and Decoy are probably awaiting that next chapter to start.

It’s crazy, but Shohei Ohtani’s news comes days after Page Six reported that Aaron Judge and wife Samantha are expecting too. Page Six revealed an exclusive that the newest family member would be a lovely girl expected to arrive in 2025. However, Judge and Samantha have yet to reveal anything to the public.

Aaron Judge and Samantha have known each other since their teenage years at Linden High School in California. They continued their relationship at college, and have been inseparable ever since. They kept their engagement private and later tied the knot in 2021. Samantha has been the support system for Judge all along the way.

In an interview with Casa De Klub, Judge talked about how he confided in Samantha when his free agency rolled in. Judge recalled Samantha saying, What do you want to do?” and him saying, And I’m telling her, ‘I want to stay in New York. I don’t want to go anywhere else.” And so, now, everyone is awaiting the news from the Yankee captain himself.

They are two of the best players in MLB, expecting new members to the family. Isn’t that a rare coincidence? What do you think?
