Umpires have demanding jobs in any sport. And baseball fans are passionate about making the right calls. If an official is doing a good job, fans laud him, whereas umpires who make many mistakes receive hate. Most recently, a controversial MLB official’s return upset fans as his questionable decisions made a comeback. 

This year, several cases of questionable decisions have left players and supporters frustrated. With new rules and the pitch clock being implemented, there has been added attention surrounding the officiating. 

Controversial MLB Umpire Angel Hernandez Makes His Comeback

Angel Hernandez has curated a reputation as one of the MLB’s less accurate umpires. Players and coaches alike have had issues with his calls for many years. The controversial official was not making the headlines as he was away from the game with an undisclosed medical issue. But now Hernandez is back and making controversial decisions again.

In a recent game against the Milwaukee Brewers, he ruled that the Nationals’ centerfielder was safe during a stolen base attempt. But in fact, Brewers’ infielder Willy Adames had tagged him out well before he touched the base. Jomboy Media shared a video of the incident on Instagram. 

In the caption, they said, “He’s back baby”. During his absence, there were speculations that he had been fired by the MLB or chosen to retire. But those thoughts were proven false as his medical issue was brought to light. Now, the umpire is back to his blunders and controversial calls.

Fans Are Calling Him the Worst in the World

Players and coaches are not the only people that have mixed reactions to Angel Hernandez. Fans are not impressed by the official either. Some fans called him the worst umpire and are wondering why he is still in MLB. 

One fan said, “Angel Hernandez…………………. Literally the worst umpire in baseball history”.

Another fan said, “Can someone please tell me why this guy is still a Major League umpire?”

A third fan said, “It’s getting really old. Almost as he doesn’t give af trying”.

Additionally, there were more negative reactions.

Another supporter said, “bros gotta retire before one of the mlb players puts his ass in a nursing home😭”.

There was even one supporter that said, “Any call from Angel Hernandez should immediately have a 2nd look”.
