New York Yankees’ 2023 season has been inconsistent so far, with big wins and big losses taking place. They currently own a 12-8 win-loss record and lost their most recent game against the Toronto Blue Jays. But the highlight of the clash was a verbal confrontation between a $51 million Yankees player and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. This led to fans mocking the Blue Jays star.

The Yankees and the Blue Jays have been in some heated games, but that has increased recently. This is because of some controversial comments about the team made by Guerrero Jr. in recent months. But this verbal confrontation brought some fire to what will be a great series.

The New York Yankees recently clashed against the Toronto Blue Jays. In the top of the ninth inning, the Blue Jays were leading 6-1 with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at the plate. Yankees closer Greg Weissert hit the Toronto-based team’s str with a pitch. While walking to first base, Guerrero Jr. stared down Weissert, which led to Yankees infielder Anthony Rizzo getting involved. Rizzo confronted the Blue Jays star and seemingly asked him why he was staring at Weissert. Talkin’ Yanks shared a video of the confrontation on Twitter. 

In a Tweet, Talkin’ Yanks said, “Vladimir Guerrero Jr. stares down Greg Weissert after getting hit by a pitch and Anthony Rizzo gets involved”. Rizzo stood up for his teammate with this verbal confrontation.

The reactions to this verbal confrontation have been in favor of the Yankees infielder. 

Some fans criticized and mocked Guerrero Jr. for his actions and even called him a clown.

Other fans lauded Rizzo for protecting his teammate.

This was an interesting end to an otherwise one-sided game, which the Blue Jays won 6-1. The Yankees are struggling to score runs at times with their star slugger Giancarlo Stanton injured. Furthermore, they will have a difficult time with a competitive AL East division.

The Yankees have a difficult road ahead

The AL East is looking to be an extremely competitive division this season. Three teams have similar records behind the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays. This will make it a difficult task for the New York Yankees to secure a playoff berth. The team has a long road ahead and challenges to overcome, but some experts still consider them a title contender.
