Shohei Ohtani is a one-man army. On his day, the LA Angels slugger can take on any team single-handedly. Ohtani is the engine of the Angels. Whenever he has performed, the Angels have mostly won the game. Such is the impact he has on the ballparks.

The Angels were going through a rough phase for the past couple of weeks. First, they fired their manager, Joe Maddon, while their losing streak continued to create a record with each game. Secondly, and mainly, the Angels were losing games as their two-way star was not in his best form.

And once Ohtani returned to his beast mode, the Angels won the game. The Japanese two-way phenom helped the Angels to end their 14-game losing streak. Ohtani was rock-solid from the mound and plate against the Boston Red Sox. With the help of Ohtani’s masterclass, the Angels won the game 5-2 against the Red Sox.

MLB fans shower praise on Shohei Ohtani for his brilliant game

When Ohtani plays well, the Angels play well. That has been the story so far for the past couple of years. With his two-way playing capabilities, fans often compare him with the MLB legend, Babe Ruth. And with the kind of performance he put against the Red Sox, MLB fans erupted in joy.

Taking to Twitter, Jared Carrabis said even Babe Ruth could not do what Ohtani did against the Red Sox. Notably, the Angels star threw a 101 mph pitch and also hammered a home run with an exit velocity of 104.4 mph.

Ohtani dominated the game from both ends. First, he started from the mound and pitched through seven innings and had six strikeouts. Then he hammered a two-run home run from the plate.

Ohtani carried the Angels on his back. MLB analyst Ben Verlander could not resist but praise Ohtani for his brilliant game. He posted a couple of tweets and suggested everyone not take Shohei Ohtani for granted.

The Angels are too much dependent on the reigning AL MVP. And that is what is killing them in the 2022 season. Ohtani is a brilliant player. No doubt about that. But it is not only his responsibility to win the game.
