However, Julio’s past has not been so memorable for him. Notably, the Dodgers ace has an eye condition by birth. Per LA Times, Julio has a bad left eye. The Dodgers ace even got bullied because of an eye problem in his childhood.

When talking about how he overcame his weakness, the Dodgers ace credited his patience and persistence. He also opened up about how he found solace in baseball when almost no one was by his side except for his family.

“Patience has been fundamental for my career. Being patient and not worrying about when my moment is coming. I don’t look at it as bad because it doesn’t impede me from anything. I do everything normal like anyone else. That’s how I look at it,” Julio Urias said to LA Times.

“It affected me a bit mentally because I looked in the mirror and I didn’t want to see me like that. But, little by little, I came around to understanding and learning, so I think I took out the most positive, and the most positive I feel was this sport.”

Julio for the Cy Young 2022?

Given his consistent performance, it will not be a surprise if Julio Urias ends up winning the National League Cy Young Award. When talking about numbers, the Dodgers ace has registered the second most wins (16) from the mound in the National League. Julio also has the best ERA record in the National League this season.

If things do not go south from here for the Dodgers ace, defying all the odds, Julio might end up winning the Cy Young Award this year.
