Baseball has always had a flair for the unexpected, not just in the bottom-of-the-ninth heroics or walk-off wins, but in the moments that unfold beyond the diamond as well. Tonight, we are witnessing something like that! Well, it’s no secret that Major League ballparks are magnets for celebrity sightings. Especially when it comes to star-studded cities or high-stakes games, and sometimes a familiar face can turn more heads than a grand slam. So when Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are spotted together at a Red Sox game, it isn’t just the on-field action that has fans buzzing.
For the unversed, Affleck and Jennifer were married for a decade before calling it quits in 2015. They have three kids together, Violet, who’s 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13. However, since Ben’s split from Jennifer Lopez, things between him and Garner have visibly shifted a bit, but not in a romantic way. Notably, they’ve just been spending more time together, putting their focus on co-parenting and making sure their kids come first.
“Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are sitting front row at Fenway tonight!” The official X handle of MLB wrote, posting a small clip.

It is not news anymore that Affleck and Garner have been on really good terms for quite a while now. But the fact that they turned up for an MLB game together raised a few eyebrows. The audience at the ballpark had a big-screen moment with the celebrity duo, which created a bit of buzz. All three of their kids were there as well. So, it was a sweet family moment that made it to the game broadcast. And of course, we all know Ben, being a proud Boston native, is a lifelong Sox fan.
Talking about the Red Sox, they are ranked third in the AL East with a 50-45 record, and even in the ongoing game, they are currently trailing the Rays by 3-4 at the end of the seventh inning. So, things are not looking good. Affleck would want the team to turn it around, but this is not the first time he has been spotted watching a Red Sox game.
Ben Affleck’s loyalty lies with the Red Sox
Affleck’s connection with the Red Sox runs deep, and it’s more than just fandom. He grew up in Massachusetts, just across the river from Fenway Park, and developed the equation with the Red Sox since childhood.

Affleck once revealed that he was asked to wear a Yankees cap in one of the scenes of his movie Gone Girl, which he resisted, being a Red Sox fanatic. “I said, ‘David, I love you, I would do anything for you. But I will not wear a Yankees hat. I just can’t. I can’t wear it because it’s going to become a thing, David. I will never hear the end of it. I can’t do it.’ And I couldn’t put it on my head,” Affleck was quoted as saying by the NY Times.
Well, that sums up his connection with Boston. And there’s more…
In movies like Good Will Hunting and The Town, Affleck made sure to weave in Boston’s identity. And the Red Sox were used as a cultural backdrop. Remember that iconic scene, where Robin Williams’ character talks about skipping Game 6 of the 1975 World Series to meet his future wife? Safe to say that was the work of a true-blue Red Sox heart!
