He was likely there to give Judge, Bader, and Stanton advice ahead of the upcoming season. These three are likely to be the Yankees’ outfield starters with other players filling in when needed. Notably, he was a crucial member of the Yankees team under the pinstripes legend Derek Jeter’s reign.
