Both these athletes have shown their respect for each other over the years in various ways. But perhaps the most famous one remains when the NBA superstar announced a new shoe line. They called it the Air Jordan 11 Jeter and were retailed for a whopping $40,000!

The former Yankee is popularly the first MLB player to have his own signature Jordans that were released in 2002. They were called Jumpman Turn 2. Jeter has always been a staunch supporter of the brand and has repped it wherever possible. The ex-shortstop is the brand’s longest-tenured athlete and his sponsorship seems alive and well!

Jordan is a big Jeter fan and vice versa
While their friendship is closer to brotherhood, both athletes are fans of each other. Jordan spoke at Derek Jeter Day when the former Yankee retired.
The basketball legend even wrote a letter for the baseballer, writing, “Derek, a legacy is built by more than what is seen. It is not given, it is earned. Beyond your 20 years in the majors and an endless list of accolades, it was your love and respect for the game that set you apart. Your pursuit of greatness on and off the field has set the standard for others to follow. Much RE2PECT on cementing your legacy and having your No. 2 jersey retired. Congratulations. And that’s not all. Jeter used to take fashion tips from Jordan once upon a time, and the two even shared a tailor! Jordan’s crisp suits apparently rubbed off on Jeter, because he’s now regarded as a fashion icon in sports.
