The Blue Jays are doing everything they can to get Bo Bichette back on track. His presence in Game 1 of the World Series was a headline, especially since he made his Major League debut at second base that night. He handled it well and showed some solid defense. Then, in Game 2, manager John Schneider kept him out of the starting lineup, saying it was about managing his workload.

The plan, apparently, was to rest him early and maybe use him later as a pinch-hitter. However, when Bichette stayed in the game on defense after entering, it sparked even more questions. If he was fine to play the field, why wasn’t he starting in the first place? Well, as per Schneider, that was the plan all along. After all, Bichette was not 100% but was healthy enough to contribute.
And now, on the eve of Game 3, the Jays’ latest announcement will only make fans happier. “Bo Bichette will be in the lineup at 2nd base in Game 3, Blue Jays manager John Schneider says,” MLB insider Bob Nightengale shared the latest update.

Yes, you heard that right.
“Expecting him to be in there,” Schneider revealed on Sunday. “He’s out here working out. Felt good coming out of yesterday [Game 2]. I think with each day that goes on, he’ll probably get as close to normal as he can at this stage of the year.”

The manager also confirmed that Bichette will probably be at second base again, marking just his second Major League appearance at the position after debuting there in Game 1.
He added that the player being able to work out on Sunday was a good sign and that he was confident that Bichette would be ready when the World Series resumes on Monday. This is indeed great news.

He is back after a knee sprain. But that injury kept him out for seven weeks. So, the team is playing it safe, and that explains why he was on the other side of the bag. However, the Blue Jays’ 11-4 win in Game 1 was a glimpse of how good Bichette can play.

Bichette was one of baseball’s best this season, hitting .311 (second only to Aaron Judge), with 18 HRs and 94 RBIs over 139 games. And let’s not forget how smooth he looked defensively at second base in Game 1, especially when he ranged over to snag Teoscar Hernandez’s grounder and prevent a run. Compare that to how Will Smith toyed with the Jays’ defense in Game 2, and it’s easy to see why getting Bichette back in there makes all the sense in the world.
That being said, he is set to become a free agent after this season.
The changes for Game 3 in the Blue Jays camp are not limited to Bichette, however. There are a few modifications.
What are the other changes in the Blue Jays’ camp?
Notably, with the series now shifting out west, the Blue Jays will be aiming to bounce back on Monday. And guess what? Schneider has already announced his plans for the next two games. Max Scherzer will take the mound for Game 3, followed by Shane Bieber in Game 4.
Well, Scherzer looked solid in his only outing this postseason, tossing 5 2/3 innings on the road against the Mariners in Game 4 of the ALCS. He wasn’t overpowering, but he got the job done with five SOs, four walks, and two runs allowed.
Interestingly, Monday’s start will be Scherzer’s fourth time pitching in the World Series, each with a different team. For the unversed, he was with the 2012 Tigers, 2019 Nationals, 2023 Rangers, and now the 2025 Blue Jays. Still, at 41, the veteran right-hander remains a bit of a wild card after an up-and-down season.
Nevertheless, we’ll see if the Jays can feed off their new starter and a bolstered lineup to turn things around. What do you think?
