The Toronto Blue Jays have mastered the art of hesitation, turning indecision into a high-stakes sport. With Vladimir Guerrero Jr inching toward free agency, instead of locking him up or trading their star for a haul, they chose option C: Doing nothing.

Letting your homegrown talent go into free agency without any fight is one of the biggest mistakes a team can make. And the Toronto Blue Jays have done exactly that. By not offering a big contract to Vladdy, they let him go.

This is exactly what the Los Angeles Angels had done with Shohei Ohtani. The Angels could have either traded him for a huge amount or kept him. But they waited too long to get something in return.

The Jays had many chances to make a decision, but they missed hitting any of them. And now only one choice remains. But the golden ticket is not with them.

Giving Vladimir Guerrero Jr what he wants.

The repeated postponement of the negotiation put the Blue Jays in a very weak position. And this gave Guerrero full leverage to set the asking price.

“I have my number,” mentioned Vlad. Seems like Guerrero Jr has given his preference to the Jays and if they don’t accept it, they will lose Guerrero and get very little in return, kissing goodbye to their title chances.

Don’t you think the Jays should just say sorry for wasting his time and agree to the deal?

Well, Toronto has a history of avoiding long-term deals. But that luxury is now a ticking time bomb. If they don’t act fast, Guerrero will walk. And Toronto might be left holding nothing but regret and a draft pick.

The choice is simple: Either they break their habit of hesitation or brace themselves for yet another masterclass in losing talent for free.

If the Blue Jays won’t pay Vladimir Guerrero Jr, the Boston Red Sox just might

The Toronto Blue Jays are playing a dangerous game of chicken with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. While they hesitate, the Boston Red Sox are lurking, ready to swoop in and do what Toronto won’t: Pay the man. If the Jays keep dragging their feet, they might as well start printing Guerrero’s jersey in red and white.

According to many reports, the Boston Red Sox are heavily interested in Vladdy. And THIS might be the signing that can round up their great and powerful off-season. After missing out on big names in the previous seasons, the Red Sox went all in this time, signing Alex Bregman, Garrett Crochet, and Walker Buehler.

So, Guerrero Jr in the Boston Red Sox might just happen as they can outbid the Blue Jays. While they might face some challenges from teams like the New York Yankees, according to Christopher Kline of FanSided, “Guerrero has made his preferences known. He has told friends he’d love to play in Boston.”

Playing alongside Bregman, Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s powerful right-hand hitting would definitely elevate the Red Sox’s lineup.

But if the Red Sox truly want Guerrero, they have the firepower to make it happen. With their aggressive spending and a clear need for a franchise cornerstone, Boston is in the perfect position to strike. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are still busy overthinking—until, of course, they realize their mistake too late, watching Guerrero crush homers at Fenway while they scramble for answers.
