It was supposed to be a fun and eventful playoff night—the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Brewers, Game 2 of the NLCS. The kind of baseball that gets even the fans’ hearts pumping loud and palms sweaty. But what started as a bit of fan banter at the American Family Field turned into a viral moment, which in turn cost a Brewers fan her job!

Ricardo Fosado, a lifelong Dodger fan and mostly a proud U.S. Navy veteran, thought he was probably going to have a fun game night. He also found himself surrounded by Milwaukee supporters. He later recalled saying, “You know, cheering and putting it in my face, ‘yeah,’ that they scored, because I’m the only Dodger fan there,” he recalled. But then the atmosphere shifted when LA took the lead. “They suddenly become very silent because we’re winning. And I become loud and cheerful, because the Dodgers are winning.”
This is when things took an ugly turn. One Brewer fan, a rather passionate one who was later identified as Shannon Kobylarczyk, snapped at Fosado. She said, “You know what, let’s call ICE,” in reference to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. That sting of a comment is something Fosado felt even after leaving the ballpark. He finally spoke about the Karen, saying, “She led it out of baseball and took it out of the cheering into something more personal, the personal level. Showed where her heart is, I believe… She showed us what she really thinks.”

In the viral video he had recorded at the moment, Fosado immediately fired back at her, saying, “Call ICE. Call ICE. I’m a U.S. citizen, a war veteran, baby girl. Two wars.” Later, the Karen was even seen taking a swing and a miss at his camera, to which even Fosado hummed a slur, and which was why he was thrown out of the game. But while he was just out of the ballpark, it cost Kobylarczyk two key positions.

Kobylarczyk resigned from the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin board. Plus, her employer, ManpowerGroup, confirmed she no longer works for the company after they did an investigation. The company, in a statement, said, “As soon as we became aware of this video, the individual was placed on immediate leave, and we began an investigation. As a result of this process, the employee is no longer with the organization. We remain committed to maintaining a culture grounded in respect, integrity, and accountability.”
Fosado, talking to the media later, said, “Did I wish that on her? Probably not, you know, I don’t really care what happens to her. Whether she gets fired or not, that’s none of my business. But there are consequences for people’s actions, you know?” And as far as his own ejection goes, the Navy veteran said it was his first Brewers game, but he got ejected; nevertheless, he had a great time.

Milwaukee Brewers’ harsh punishment for Karen and Fosado!
The fallout from the viral ICE confrontation has gone beyond the internet; it is now an official punishment. Yes, both the Dodgers fan Ricardo Fosado and the Brewers fan Shannon Kobylarczyk have been banned from returning to the Milwaukee Brewers ballpark, the team has now confirmed. The Brewers confirmed to Daily Mail that they made this decision after they reviewed the incident that had taken down. The franchise said that while they are all for the team pride and the fan enthusiasm, they “do not condone offensive statements fans make to each other about race, gender, or national origin.”

Fosado also told Fox 11 that he and his friend were ejected from the game in the seventh inning. However, he was not told at the time why. Later he learned that the Brewers police department had cited him for “disorderly conduct and public intoxication,” which calls for a removal. In the official statement, the Brewers also mentioned that Kobylarczyk, by swinging, did become physical and that it is a direct violation of the guest conduct code. “For these reasons and in accordance with our Guest Code of Conduct specific to ejections and physical confrontations, both fans are being notified that they are not allowed to return to the ballpark for future events,” the statement read.
This is just the latest addition to the growing list of viral fan incidents this season. The Phillies’ Karen and her snatching a ball from a child caused quite an uproar, too. However, with this swift punishment, the Brewers did make it clear that their priority is making a safe and fun experience for fans. Even when it means closing the door on their fan, someone who crosses the line.
