Spring Training has been brutal this year, with many stars suffering devastating injuries. Boston Red Sox star Justin Turner was one of these players. During a Spring Training game against the Detroit Tigers, Turner was hit in the face with a pitch. He crumpled to the ground while clutching his face, blood dripping from his injury.

But the Red Sox star managed to get away without a severe head injury or any internal damage. Turner required 16 stitches and made a miraculous recovery within 2 weeks. Most recently, the veteran hitter showed that he is back to full health with a milestone hit.?

Justin Turner signed with the Boston Red Sox this off-season to provide them with veteran leadership and quality batting. His time with the Red Sox got off to a torrid start as he suffered his brutal injury to the face. But less than 3 weeks after his injury, Turner finally hit his first home run in a Boston jersey. He did so in a Spring Training game against the Atlanta Braves in the bottom of the third inning. Talkin? Baseball shared a video of the momentous milestone hit on Twitter.

In a Tweet, Talkin? Baseball said, ?Justin Turner’s first home run in a Red Sox uniform!?. The two-run homer is a huge momentum booster for Turner as he gets adjusted to his new team. The Red Sox will need a lot more of those hits from the veteran after losing batting firepower this off-season.

Turner signed with the Bosox on a 2-year $21.7 million deal, fielding interest from half-a-dozen teams. He is likely to split time between third base and DH this season. At 38, he still bats at a high level but has slowed down in the field. The Red Sox will expect some big hits from him as they aim to improve on a poor 2022 season.

Earlier this year, before Spring Training, Boston Red Sox?s Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom set the playoffs as the goal. This is a high hurdle following the team?s 78-win 2022 season. The Red Sox finished last in the AL East. They struggled to hit their stride because of injuries.
