The Oakland Athletics might just be gearing up for a fresh series with the Boston Red Sox. But Brent Rooker just hit one of the biggest home runs. However, this time not on the field but off the field and not with his bat—but his thumbs.

Well, the A’s slugger, who has been the sole tiger for the otherwise topsy-turvy team, has found himself in the middle of an Instagram fiasco. So a fan with a notorious bettor slid into his DMs. His message read. “You sold me yesterday, 1 leg away from 21k, and you could only hit single.” Basically, he was blaming Rooker for ruining a betting slip.
But Rooker’s response was even better. It was pure burn. “My brother, I cannot even begin to express how much I don’t care.” That one-liner just went viral, and fans started commenting on it when he posted it over to X. But here is the thing: this is not the first time that Rooker’s clapbacks have caught attention.

Just months earlier, he was caught in another strange social media frenzy. During the 2025 Home Run Derby, cameras panned to him bottle-feeding his 11-month-old daughter, Blake Eloise. Now, while many saw this as a touching father-daughter moment, one critic decided to say, “Hey Rooker… Did you really need to feed your baby on camera? Sometimes people just want to see you play.”

Well, Brent Rooker didn’t stop back to reply, saying, “Yes, it was necessary to feed my 11-month-old child her nighttime bottle at like 9:00 pm. Thank you for asking.”Well, calm, classy, and what a takedown. Fans couldn’t help but praise him for putting his family first. And as far as games go, he has 27 home runs and 82 RBIs on the season. And his value to Oakland has increased, no doubt. Now, if online exchanges are anything, it’s just that he is as dangerous off the diamond as he is on it.
Because come what may, the $60 million Athletics star doesn’t back off. Also, that humor is refreshing!
Oakland’s Luis Morales joins elite pitching company!
It really didn’t take long for Luis Morales to make a name for himself with the Oakland Athletics. He was signed out of the Chicago Cubs in 2023, now, already the right-hander is carving up big league hitters like a seasoned vet. Through his first six outings, he has gone 3-0 with an eye-watering 1.59 ERA across 28⅓ ⅓ innings. Not bad, right, for someone barely two years removed from signing his first professional contract?

Brent Rooker's clapbacks: refreshing honesty or too much for the fans to handle?
Have an interesting take?
Now, sure, the command has kind of faltered, with 11 walks in that stretch, including five in his debut against Baltimore. But even then, he threw a scoreless start. But the even bigger spotlight is on how few hits he has allowed—just 17. So clearly, he has plenty of potential and is showing his elite skills off. And if you are wondering, how does Morales stack up against the other rookies from the past decade? You’d be surprised!
Well, his 5.4 hits per nine actually leads the group of 87 pitchers. His ERA+ of 269 trails only the Cincinnati Reds prospect Rhett Lowder’s 378, and that too from last season. This even puts him ahead of other names like Ian Anderson, who had a breakout year with the Atlanta Braves back in 2020. And it honestly puts him in the conversation with Paul Skenes, who has been one of the best pitchers in the league since his 2024 debut.

If you don’t believe, take a look at his WHIP. Only four pitchers since 2010—that’s Skenes, Lucas Giolito, the late José Fernández, and Morales—have been able to keep it under 1.00. This is gold. Now, for sure, this is a small sample size, but there is no denying that he has some raw talent.
Oakland now just needs to keep him healthy and build his talents up more.
