The Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers already got their tickets to the Fall Classic in their respective leagues, sparking a conversation that is much more than a battle for rings. For the defending champion Dodgers, it’s a chance to repeat their championship as the Yankees did two decades ago, and for the Blue Jays and their passionate fans across Canada, this is personal. And as they were preparing for their biggest series in three decades, an iconic voice from their last championship run has returned with a timely offer.

In a recent chat with CityNews’s Sports and Music Reporter Lindsay Dunn, Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams shared it was “Awesome, really great “that his work was used during the Blue Jays’ 1992 World Series victory.

And for the fans in Canada, the memory of the 1992 World Series is always linked to Adams’s music. Because his rock anthem, “There Will Never Be Another Tonight,” was the soundtrack to an iconic Coca-Cola commercial that aired right after the Jays won their first-ever title, and it was their last as well.

Now, as a new generation of Jays eyes a championship, the Canadian music icon has a new track in mind. So he told the media, “I’m hoping ‘Roll with the Punches’ will do the same going forward. I think that’s got… that’s got sports written all over it.”

‘Roll with the Punches’ is the title track of his new album, and it’s his first independent release in his illustrious career.  And he wants his new song to become a lucky charm once again, especially when they face an opponent that already dealt them a massive emotional blow before the recent season.

Yes, we’re talking about the star-studded Los Angeles Dodgers, who are still the clear favorites to repeat as champions for several bettors at Oddsmakers. And the Blue Jays, led by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and company, who enter this World Series as underdogs, are currently holding the second favorite after the Dodgers.

At a moment like that, a new “lucky charm” is exactly what they need.

And the Jays may accept the offer as the bond between Adams and the team remains strong. As former Jays Brandon Belt and Danny Jansen, along with teammate Daulton Varsho, were spotted at his concert just a few years ago. Plus for Toronto, the phrase “roll with the punches” isn’t just a metaphor; it’s the story of one of the most bizarre chapters in modern history.

Now, let’s understand..

How a mistake forged a World Series rivalry

The bad blood between Blue Jays fans and the Dodgers was born in the winter of 2023 when the entire baseball world was curious about where superstar Shohei Ohtani will land as a free agent. The narrative reached its peak in December 2023 when an inaccurate report claimed Ohtani was on a private jet flying to Toronto to sign his contract.  But the passenger on that jet was not Shohei Ohtani; it was Canadian businessman and Shark Tank star Robert Herjavec.

When asked about the incident, Ohtani innocently said, “I was just following the news. I knew I wasn’t on that flight, so I was curious too.” And Ohtani finally signed a record-breaking $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on 10th December.

After that, when the Dodgers visit Toronto, they were booed. And in his first at-bat in Toronto after the incident, Ohtani hit a massive home run that only fuels their hate. And since then, every time the Dodgers and Jays played, the scars only renewed with time.

If they both win their championship series in their respective leagues and meet for the final series of the season, the Blue Jays, powered by an explosive offense led by Vladdy Jr., who had a .529 average with a 1.609 OPS, had their best chance to settle the score.
