When Big Papi sees the future, you have to pay attention. And in the latest Topps appearance, David Ortiz made a bold prediction—he named the next Aaron Judge. Yes, the New York Yankee captain!

The Hall of Famer isn’t just throwing out the names. In a dramatic tarot reading, like a promo for the 2025 Bowman Baseball card release, Ortiz sat in a candlelit card vault. It sure looked like he was channeling some power. His prospect came through quite soon, too. When two boys came in, he told them that Jesús Made, J.J. Wetherholt, and especially Charlie Condon are about to take over the league.

“The future is in the cards,” Ortiz said. With that, there was also one crucial addition: He told us that Condon is the next judge.

This is huge because the man he is comparing with is someone who has won MVP, led the league, and is the face of his franchise, not to mention he is on fire for the Bronx now. But the bigger question is, what makes Condon so special to be compared to Aaron Judge?

Well, for starters, Condon’s height stands at 6’6″- so super tall. The outfielder was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. Before his fracture sidelined him, he was just tearing up the college scene back in Georgia. His season in 2023 was jaw-dropping, with a .433 batting average and 37 home runs. So that’s not just good—it highlights that he might go on to be a generational player.

He is also now ranked the No. 25 prospect in all of baseball by MLB Pipeline and was The Athletic’s No. 1 overall player heading into the draft. Topps sees the stardom that is bound to come. Hence, it’s not surprising that they put his face right on the box of their 2025 set, along with Nationals’ James Wood. So, while David Ortiz might remember the thrill of seeing himself on the cards, he is passing the torch to baseball’s next possible big thing.

But till then, let’s forget who he compared Condon with…

What’s your perspective on:

Is Charlie Condon truly the next Aaron Judge, or is Big Papi's prediction too bold?

Have an interesting take?

Aaron Judge is carrying the Yankees on his back

While David Ortiz’s comparison is cool, Condon really has to step it up to make it like Judge’s level. This year, for example, the Yankees are smashing the league. They lead the AL East with a 20-16 record, and a big reason for their early success is Aaron Judge. His numbers through 36 games have been absolute cinema—he is slashing. 412/.503/.772. A one-man army!

And the numbers back up how impactful the New York Yankees captain has been. According to Codify Baseball on X, if Judge were removed from the equation, the Yankees’ team stats would look different. Currently, the Yankees lead the majors in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. But without Judge, they would drop to 14th in batting average, 11th in OBP, and third in slugging.

Judge’s 2025 stats are stunning: 12 home runs, 34 RBIs, 56 hits, 34 runs, and a 3.1 WAR. He is leading MLB in every offensive category. And get this—Judge is the fifth player since the wild card era to start a season with a .400 average and 1.250 OPS. The other four in the list are all MVP winners. If Judge can keep this up, he would be on track for 13.9 WAR, just behind Babe Ruth’s iconic season in 1923. Now, maybe a third potential MVP is on the line, also a seventh all-star appearance, and a fifth Silver Slugger.
